Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Oil

Lavandula Augustifoila (Lavender) Flower Oil

You cant start talking about Lavender without noting its beautiful scent, making this a go-to for products that want to be free of synthetic fragrance while still wanting to smell nice.  This widely used plant is a member of the mint family, known for its calming and relaxing properties on the central nervous system, this amazing oil can also calm anxiety.

Lavender comes in two forms, oil and extract.  The Oil form of Lavender  regulates sebum production and prevents the appearance of pustules and papules, making it a great option for acne prevention.

There has been a lot of opinions online suggesting that Lavender is not good for the skin and can cause irritation.  However, as stated in “Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine”, Lavender in low concentrations, over a prolonged period in time will not cause irritation.  It is not recommended to put any essential oil in full concentration directly on the skin.  Anything used in excess is bad for you!!  Did you hear about the guy that overdosed on Vitamin D?!?  Lets not jump to conclusions that Vitamin D is bad, but too much of anything is not good.

The take away: Lavender can soothe skin and improves acne.  Also protects against free radicles, and combats bacterial disorders.  It can be used by most people but those with contact allergies to lavender should not use it, also anyone with sensitive skin should use a test spot first or avoid it all together.  Last, Lavandula Augustifoila is just the Latin name for Lavender, so if you see this on your products, it just means Lavender.
