Jump to the Quick Reference Guide

Skin care can be confusing, everyone is different, needing a different combination of products and services that will produce the best results.  You have spoken to your Top Layer rep and they have recommended what products to use… whew.. the hard part is done!!  They also gave you a run-down on how best to use your skin care products.  Do you remember what they said?  I know I didn’t, I was so excited to finally see the changes in my skin, trying to remember all the details why Top Layer was different. Seeing the before and after photos and then trying to remember what product comes after which serum or how to combine them and the resting times for…. what?!?!?

Its ok… I have put together a reference guide for you.  I don’t know about you but I need to repeat something a few times before I remember all the details.

I’ve included two versions here… one that gets into the details of what our products do: Face Cleansing 101, and a face Cleansing: Quick Reference Guide.

I know this will help you achieve the results you want with your new Top Layer products.

Face Cleansing 101

Cleansers:

  • Mandatory as the first step in achieving your ideal skin
  • Removes residual build up from extrinsic factors such as debris, makeup, environmental germs and free radicals causing DNA damage and congestion, and personal handling of our skin ( over the counters, unclean clothes, etc); these residues are combined with the intrinsic factors such as the toxins we excrete through our skin, the overproduction of sebum, and the bacteria and congestion formed from these
  • Proper cleansing preps the skin for boosted results of the rest of the skincare regime

Techniques for cleansing:

  • Double cleanse… this means, wash your face twice. Results in a polished and perfected cleanse and desired freshness
  • Dry cleanse first with cleansing product only.  Massage into the skin for proven results and add water after for a luxurious clean finish…results in visible improvements with the chosen ingredients (we will talk more about specific ingredients in a post soon) for the targeted concern.
  • Provide an Emollient cleanse by spraying your favorite toner with a dry cleanse and massaging the mixture to deliver the ingredients further into the epidermal highway…results in a satin cleanse that brightens and hydrates the skin

Exfoliants:

  • Best technique for anti-aging is to exfoliate the skin
  • Promotes new cell formation
  • Promotes quicker cell turnover
  • Reprograms the cell reproduction process of younger skin

Techniques to use Exfoliants:

  • Use daily for 2 weeks as a booster treatment and then go back to 2-3 times per week

Toners:

  • Mandatory to rehydrate the skin’s protective barrier
  • Mandatory to Hydrate the topical layers of the skin as drinking water is great for our bodily functions and is used up before reaching our outer skin layers
  • Provides a primer to the skin and acts as a delivery system for added healthy skin ingredients…results in deeper penetration and longer lasting treatment as the toner has magnetic properties with its moisture contents working to bind and draw other ingredients
  • pH balances…results in a healthy water environment that boosts natural protective properties in our skin; those are the anti-aging properties, the anti-bacterial properties, and the pigment stabilizing properties (anti-pigment)

Techniques for Toners:

  • Spray an anti-bacterial toner on a covid mask to prevent maskne or after a workout
  • Leave the toner moist and apply the rest of the next skin care product…. This results in more binding properties, spreads the concentration of the ingredient, and makes the product last longer while not diminishing the results

Serums:

  • Enable the corrective, reparative, recovery, and renewal processes in the skin because of the smaller molecular structure in serum contents
  • Powerhouse products
  • Vitamin C is the most popular serum for day as it holds the key to the highest anti-oxidant levels for the skin and leaves the skin younger longer
  • Retinol is the most popular serum for night as it recovers the DNA damage by causing a wound-healing effect through “retinazation causing an inflammatory response and then the skin’s healing response produces resources that heal, review, and repair; those resources are collagen, elastin, Hyaluronic acid, and of course the Retinol itself synthesizes our natural sister ingredient Vitamin A
  • Avoid the eye area with serums; Top Layer retinol can be applied 2-3 times a week.
  • Heal Pro eye cream has .3% retinol, designed specifically for the eye area (day and night)

Techniques for Serums:

  • Add a serum before a mask treatment to push it in deeper and amplify its results
  • Use pressure pointing with application of Serum

Eye Creams:

  • Ingredients should be suited to the delicate skin tissue around the eye area
  • Heal Pro eye cream has .3% retinol, designed specifically for the eye area (day and night)

Techniques for Eye Cream:

  • Learn the art of massage around the eye area
  • Ensure that you delicately massage and make 30 circles around the eyes, you can also pat in circles around the eye.
  • Learn the art of pressure point
  • Using a patting technique where you pat and hold for a few seconds with mild to moderate pressure
  • Eye cream will spread from the point of contact due to body heat.  You don’t need to bring the cream to the eye line.  (image of the face with the mapping for application area)

Oils:

  • Improve dry skin lacking oil
  • Recover the cells
  • Recover the lipidic quality to the skin, the elasticity, the plumpness
  • Do not apply to the eye area

Techniques for Oils:

  • Massage onto the skin and relax the skin

Moisturizers:

  • Mandatory to Hydrate the topical layers of the skin as drinking water is great for our bodily functions and is used up before reaching our outer skin layers
  • Note that when our bodily functions are improved (though water consumption that fuels the transportation system in the body) our skin will produce retinol and collagen more efficiently and improves skin texture (softens)
  • Maintains the skin and adds a protective layer against outside elements
  • Provides illumination
  • Softens and smooth the skin

Techniques for Moisturizers:

  • Cocktail with a drop of oil creating a byphase application of water and oil
    • Byphase:  the protective barrier of our skin contains water and oil.

Masks:

  • Mini facial at home
  • Gives advanced self care
  • Throw on a mask while bathing
  • Intensive treatment for the complexion for home care
  • Variety of masks give different treatment such as acne care, lightening, brightening, firming, hydrating

Techniques for using Masks:

  • Leave on for allotted time and apply a hot towel for a few minutes to open up the pores for more intensive a result
  • Spray toner to infuse the ingredients
  • Apply a home hand piece or globes to cool the mask

THAT was a lot of information, but I did promise that I would provide you with a Quick Reference Guide: Face Cleansing 101 so that you don’t have to read all that when your trying to get ready for work or relax at the end of the day.

Cleansing: Quick Reference Guide.

Step One: Dry Cleanse

Apply cleanser straight to the face, no water.  Massage into face for 60 seconds.

You can spray toner on to the cleanser to create an Emollient, or give a spritz to re-activate if the cleanser is drying out (this happens when your skin is VERY dry).  Add water and Rinse.

Repeat. This is that Double Cleanse we talked about in the “101” post, above.

Step Two: Exfoliate.

Gently massage into the skin, avoiding the eye area.

Step Three: Toner

Spritz your face with your Top Layer toner. Leave moist and apply the next skin care product.

Step Four: Serum

AM: Apply your Epi-Lighten Vitamin C Serum

PM: Apply your Amplify HC – Retinol Serum, allow the Serum to rest on your face for 5 minuets.

Step Five: Eye Cream

Apply your eye cream, pat, or gently massage over and around the eye area for 30seconds.

Step Six: Oil

Apply your Oil (if one was recommended for you), use 2-3 drops and massage into the skin.

Step Seven: Moisturize

Apply Moisturizer, you can add a drop of oil to create a byphase.  Details about Byphase above.
